The goal of The Hand section of our program is to establish a mission.

This final phase equips disciples with practical skills necessary for "missional" living—actively sharing the gospel and serving others.

This stage prepares participants to step out into their communities and beyond, effectively communicating their faith and contributing positively to society.

The Hand module will provide the skills and courage to share the Gospel message and win others to Christ, through the following courses:

How to Start a Small Group
This course provides foundational knowledge and practical steps for initiating small group ministries within the church or community setting. Participants will learn about the key elements needed to create a supportive and nurturing group environment, including selecting themes, structuring meetings, and creating an inclusive atmosphere. The course also covers strategies for recruiting members and promoting engagement, ensuring the successful launch of a vibrant small group.

How to Lead a Small Group
Focused on the skills required to effectively lead and manage small groups, this course teaches participants about leadership styles, conflict resolution, and group dynamics. Attendees will gain insights into fostering open communication, encouraging spiritual growth, and maintaining a healthy group culture. Practical sessions include role-playing scenarios and leadership challenges to equip future small group leaders with the confidence and tools needed to guide their groups wisely and compassionately.

How to Multiply a Small Group
This course addresses the growth and expansion of small groups by training participants in replication and multiplication strategies. It emphasizes the importance of developing new leaders within the group, creating scalable structures, and understanding when and how to divide a growing group to foster new ones. The curriculum includes case studies and models of successful small group multiplication, providing a clear roadmap for sustainable expansion.

Understanding the Church
An essential course for anyone involved in church activities, this class explores the theological, historical, and practical aspects of the church as an institution. Participants will delve into the biblical basis for the church, its role in society, and its function as the body of Christ. The course also examines contemporary issues facing the church, encouraging a deeper understanding of how to serve effectively within and through church structures to impact the wider community.

As each course is completed, members will prepare to be sent into the world as disciple makers.

Additionally, the Hand courses emphasizes the development of practical skills that enhance the effectiveness of participants in various aspects of life:

Offers workshops and real-life mission experiences to practice learned skills.

✓ Provides opportunities to participate in local outreach projects, international missions, and partnerships with community organizations.

✓ Cultivates a sense of global awareness and responsibility, emphasizing a hands-on approach to faith that translates belief into actionable service.

✓ Stresses the importance of sustainability in mission efforts, teaching how to create and lead projects with lasting community impacts.

These skills are integral for participants to serve effectively in their families, small groups, and broader communities.

By integrating these elements, the Sojourner Discipleship program at Journey Community Church not only addresses the need for a structured discipleship program but also ensures that each participant is equipped to lead and serve in a manner that embodies the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.

This comprehensive approach ensures that the church not only grows in number but also in spiritual maturity and impact.
